Best Golden State Warrior - 2012 - David Lee
SF Weekly awards David Lee “Best Warrior,” which is the NBA equivalent of receiving a participant medal.
“In a sense, David Lee wins this accolade the way Carl Lewis won the gold in the 100-meter dash at the 1988 Olympics: Monta Ellis was the Warriors’ best player this year, but as he is no longer eligible, the prize goes to the next guy.”
This did ruin the Warriors’ plan to tank so hard that the “Best Warrior” award defaulted to a member of the Dakota Wizards. As such, the Utah Jazz will receive the SF Weekly’s accolade next year. Congratulations in advance, Al Jefferson!
Why did the Jazz players really want Jerry Sloan out? Not enough ass-patting.

He did it again.
Marc Stein reports that Raja Bell has signed with the Utah Jazz, f’ing Kobe and the Lakers. Again.
Contract was 3 years for 10 mil. That’s more than Lakers 1.8 per. I’d say Bell “doesn’t want to play for a championship,” but I don’t think he’s has made THAT much money over his career. At least not enough to turn down an extra 4-6m in this recession, with an agent, manager and family.
Raja Bell exemplifies everything that everyone seemingly wanted LeBron to do in his free agency: He didn’t go for the easy championship, instead choosing to go head-to-head with his old rival. Bell doesn’t have any rings, but at least he’s not a ring-chaser.
This signing also means that three years later, the returns from the dismantling of the “We Believe” Warriors are down to just Vladimir Radmanovic. Expect Andris Biedrins to be traded for very, very little any day now.
