Red Sox starter John Lackey pauses to wipe his brow after he’s overcome with meat sweats on the first day of spring training. Lackey admits that he’s not yet up to speed after missing 2012 with Tommy John surgery, but insists that by Opening Day, he’ll be back to eating two buckets of fried chicken per game.

I believe we are looking at Hunter Pence here. Note the bizarre flight of the pulverized cardinal - clearly that tree broke on impact, and the flying cardinal is sure to confuse the overmatched avian defender at shortstop.

Austin Madison of Pixar kept a football sketchbook all season long. Turns out, he made a few baseball ones as well including this terrifying image of who I can only assume is either a) the next Pixar feature, b) future Brandon Belt or c) perhaps a combination of the two.
And please, if you enjoy this image, check out all of his other work here.

oldtimefamilybaseball:

While the Athletics may have pulled off a big trade today, the biggest news is clearly from their marketing department.

That’s right, the Coco Crisp Lean doll, or Coco Crisp Bobblebody, or (as I like to call it) Coco Crisp Cavorting Cadaver, is coming on June 29th. Even better, that’s National Waffle Iron Day.

I might have to take the day off, I’m so excited.

Great ballpark promotion or GREATEST BALLPARK PROMOTION?

I only hope they can get Terry Kiser to appear. I have a feeling he’s available.

“I will do my best for the team, but I also want to do the ‘Bernie Dance’ with Oakland.”

“I believe the Yankees organization appreciates that there is a difference between a 39-year-old who has played relying only on talent, and a 39-year-old who has prepared, practiced and thought thoroughly through many experiences for their craft. I am very thankful, and I will do my best to deliver on their expectations.”

The story of Billy Beane’s signing of Japanese shortstop Hiroyuki Nakajima would not be complete until Taiwanese animators delivered their take. One thing is certain: they HATE Lew Wolff.

Filed under: sports mlb trevor bauer consummate 4sight Arizona Diamondbacks cleveland indians

Indians fans might be excited about getting pitching super-prospect Trevor Bauer from Arizona, but they might want to reconsider after listening to him rap. Clearly Kevin Towers and the Diamondbacks were so disgusted they they exiled Bauer to Cleveland, the baseball equivalent of setting someone adrift on a barge, Newbridge-style. Too bad Bauer did have the 4Sight to anticipate that this monstrosity would end up on the internet.
