Cody Ross lost his bat during a plate appearance versus the Phillies last week. He might as well have been batless last night, as he struck out four times against Cliff Lee. I hope there’s still space on Ross’ shelf, because his NLCS MVP trophy is about to be joined by a golden sombrero.

The only disappointing aspect of Edgar Renteria’s RBI single was that America didn’t get to see Cody Ross slide home again.

The NLCS MVP is 1-for-2 lifetime against Cliff Lee. That hit? A grand slam.

Let’s hope the MVP trophy can make up for the pain of every post-game interviewer - particularly Fox’s Chris Rose - reminding Cody Ross of how unwanted he was.
“Cody, you hit .350 with three home runs this series. Pretty good for a guy the Marlins were eager to get rid of.”
“Philadelphia’s pitchers tried to avoid you as the series went on, just like major league teams at the trade deadline. And women in bars. I don’t have a question.”
“Can you talk about how it feels to be released?”
“You moved from right to left field after the seventh inning. Did that remind you of moving from city to city, as team after team got tired of you?
“Your teammates really love you, Cody. Is this the first time you have felt love from other human beings?”
