I believe we are looking at Hunter Pence here. Note the bizarre flight of the pulverized cardinal - clearly that tree broke on impact, and the flying cardinal is sure to confuse the overmatched avian defender at shortstop.

Austin Madison of Pixar kept a football sketchbook all season long. Turns out, he made a few baseball ones as well including this terrifying image of who I can only assume is either a) the next Pixar feature, b) future Brandon Belt or c) perhaps a combination of the two.
And please, if you enjoy this image, check out all of his other work here.

The Cardinals center fielder knows how to slide in a timely fashion while breaking up a double play, and yet he’s the one who got plunked. Even for a man named John Jay, there is no justice in this world.

“Hahahahaha! Hahahahaha! Then what did Oquendo say? He did? Hahahahaha!”
“…”
“God I miss you guys.”
“…”
“So… what’s up with this Kozma guy? You pretty serious about him?”
“…”
“No, just curious. I think it’s great you guys found a new utility infielder. Really great. Even if he did only hit .236 in the minors.”
“…”
“So, does he turn the double play better than me? Is that it?”
“…”
“Is it his hair? Hey, I have long hair, too! I’m over-matched at my defensive position, too! I mean, I know you’ve moved on, but I just want you to know I’m a free agent at the end of the season.”
“…”
“OK, fine. I get it. It’s over. I’m going to come by later to pick up the rest of my stuff from the clubhouse, probably around the fifth inning unless I have to pinch-hit.”
“…”
“Oh, and thank Matt for trying to help me get a few at-bats Monday night.”

Giants fans may have breathed a collective sigh of relief in getting past Cards postseason ace Chris Carpenter, but there’s still plenty to worry about. For one, Carp is scheduled to start again at AT&T Park in Game 6 (if necessary). For another, he’s still available to pinch-hit in any of the games. With three hits in his last four at-bats, including a double and single, Carpenter might be the most dangerous bat on either bench right now, and certainly the most dangerous Carpenter.

“If they take exception to it we really can’t say anything because it was past the bag, even though I don’t think he had any intention of hurting Scutaro.”
Lance Berkman, pretty much giving a thumbs-up to the Giants beaning Matt Holiday in Game Three.

Through four shutout innings, Chris Carpenter is dealing, and he’s helping his cause at the plate with a single and a double. I don’t want to jinx anything, but he’s just a triple and a home run away from hitting for the cycle.

Good to know that Coors Light remains the beer of choice for angry, beligerent fans.

The Atlanta fans really stuck it to those umpires groundskeepers after that blown call, huh?
