Dusty Baker is coming back to Cincinnati, having negotiated a new two-year deal with the Reds. The deal almost fell apart at the last minute when Dusty left his agent in the boardroom too long, then handed him the last page of the contract as a souvenir, and then insisted on signing the document with his own Montblanc Solitaire, even though he’d used it to sign over 130 documents before and it was low on ink - in other words, he couldn’t manage his pen.
But congratulations to Dusty, who has led the Reds to division titles two out of the last three years. He’s got a new contract, he’s making a full medical recovery, and if it weren’t for Scott Rolen’s glove, he’d still be managing in the playoffs right now.
