Amazing video from the A’s game tonight. Four Oakland police officers can’t handle a beligerent old man sitting in his seat, so they tase him (at 1:05). At 1:20, a horrified fan tries to intervene, but an Oakland usher gets in the way, and subsequently pushes him down the stairs. At 1:42, everyone forgets about the police brutality in front of them when a foul ball lands a few seats away. I have to say, this pretty symbolizes the A’s fan experience in 2009.
I can’t believe that a stun gun was really the preferred option here. I guess the guy is lucky that these weren’t BART cops, because they would have shot him with a real gun. Or maybe not - the beligerent fan was white, after all.
(EDIT: Here’s the replacement video link.)
